Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and voices should be incorporated into your writing respectfully and in a culturally sensitive manner. Be careful when using information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or culture that is written by non-Indigenous authors – ensure that it is true, accurate and suitable to include.
At times your work, or your assessment, may require you to include referencing elements that are specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. These include nation/language group names or respect terms such as Aunty/Uncle/Elder.
These elements are not shown in many referencing styles, so it may be necessary to adapt the styles to include them. To do this, identify the standard format for that item type and style and then add acknowledgements as required.
Please check that these elements are required/suitable for your assessment.
