I can't find a template that fits my example!

QUT cite|write does not provide examples of every possible type of reference - sometimes you need to create your own. Here are some suggestions.

  1. The easiest way to do this is to modify a template or example that is close to the one you need, e.g. substitute a URL for a doi.
Remember to check the pink buttons for Author, Publisher and Page variations and fit it into the basic format for a reference in your style (check the capitalisation and italics!).
  2. You can check the style guides for the style concerned (What is APA?, What is Harvard?, What is Vancouver?, AGLC Introduction to general rules).
  3. You can build one from scratch - check out the "Build your own" button in the style you are using.
  4. You can search the internet or use a citation generator for an example that fits - but be wary, it may not be completely accurate. Check it against the principles in the "Build your own" button and style guides for the style concerned (What is APA?, What is Harvard?, What is Vancouver?, AGLC Introduction to general rules).
